New Jersey Special Automobile Insurance Policy
A Special Automobile Insurance Policy does not provide liability, collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorists, or underinsured motorists coverage.
The Special Automobile Insurance Policy provides only the following coverage:
- Emergency Personal Injury Protection Coverage for emergency care not to exceed $250,000 per person per accident.
- Death benefit in the amount of $10,000
- Limitation on lawsuit option (This means that you cannot sue the person who caused an
accident for your pain and suffering unless you sustain bodily injury resulting in death,
dismemberment, significant disfigurement or scarring, displaced fractures, loss of fetus, or a permanent injury (when a body part or organ has not healed to function normally and will not heal to function normally with further medical treatment)).
WARNING: lf you are at fault in an accident where people are injured or die, you will be
responsible for paying for the pain, suffering and other personal hardships and some
economic damages, such as lost wages or property damage that you cause. Your insurer will
not pay a judgment against you or pay for a lawyer to defend you if you are sued. Your assets
will be at risk, including having money deducted from your wages or future earnings if a
judgment is entered against you.
